This Privacy Policy explains how ImperialRaw.com (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and shares information when you visit https://imperialraw.com (the “Site”).
1. Information we collect
a. Information you provide. When you leave a comment, use our Contact Us or Submit Video forms, or subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the information you enter, such as your name, email address, website, and the content of your message, comment or submission. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we also store the date and source of your signup and a one-way (hashed) value derived from your IP address, which we use to prevent abuse. Newsletter email addresses may be shared with an email service provider that helps us send our newsletters.
b. Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect information about your device and visit, including your IP address, browser and device type, pages and videos viewed, the page that referred you, approximate location (country) derived from your IP address, time spent on the site, and how you interact with the Site, for example which recommended videos you click, whether a video played for several seconds, and the reactions you choose. We use cookies, browser storage and similar technologies for this (see Section 3).
2. How we use information
- to operate the Site, respond to you, and prevent fraud, abuse and security threats;
- to understand how the Site is used and improve its content, features and page layouts, including by running tests of different layouts (Section 6);
- to count video views and remember choices you make (for example content-warning confirmations and reactions);
- to show and measure advertising that helps fund the Site;
- to send newsletters to people who subscribed. To stop receiving newsletters, contact us at [email protected] and ask us to remove you.
3. Cookies, browser storage and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Browser storage works similarly. We use the following. Providers other than us set their own cookies under their own policies.
- imperialraw_adult_approved (set by us): Remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older for adult sections. Duration: 30 days (cookie and browser storage).
- imperialraw_graphic_approved (set by us): Remembers that you accepted a graphic-content warning. Duration: 30 days (browser storage).
- ir_viewed_[post number] (set by us): Counts a video view once per day. Duration: 1 day.
- ir_reaction_[post number] (set by us): Remembers the reaction you chose on a post. Duration: Until you clear browser storage.
- ir_exp1 (set by us): Page-layout testing group (Section 6). Used only while we are running a layout test. Duration: Up to 90 days, renewed each time you visit a video page (some browsers shorten it); only set for visitors outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland.
- fluidMute (set by video player (Fluid Player)): Remembers your mute preference. Duration: Until you clear browser storage.
- _ga, _ga_[ID] (set by Google Analytics): Distinguish visitors and measure usage (Section 4). Duration: Up to about 13 months.
- cf_clearance (set by Cloudflare): Security: remembers that you passed a bot check. Duration: Up to 1 year.
- Advertising cookies (set by Advertising providers (Section 5)): Serve and measure ads. Duration: Varies by provider.
- comment_author_*, comment_author_email_*, comment_author_url_* (set by WordPress): Pre-fill the comment form, only if you tick “Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment”. Duration: Up to about 1 year.
You can block or delete cookies and browser storage in your browser settings; some features (for example remembering your age confirmation) may then not work.
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, in a single Google Analytics property that we control, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google receives information such as your IP address, device and browser details, pages viewed and your interactions, and sets the cookies listed above.
How long Google Analytics keeps this data. In our Google Analytics property:
- User-level data (data associated with an identifier for your browser or device, such as the identifier stored in the cookies above) is kept for 14 months. We have turned on the setting that restarts this period each time that identifier sends new activity, so the data of a returning visitor is kept for 14 months from their latest visit.
- Other event-level data, the detailed data available for custom analysis in Google Analytics, is kept for 2 months.
- Standard aggregated reports are not affected by these retention settings.
- Data that reaches the end of its retention period is deleted automatically.
Google’s use of the data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. Advertising
The Site shows advertisements delivered by third-party advertising networks, currently Adsterra. These networks and the other companies they work with may use cookies, device identifiers and information such as your IP address, browser and the page you are viewing to select, deliver and measure ads and to prevent ad fraud. Ads may load content from several other domains, and we do not control the data practices of these networks. See Adsterra’s privacy policy at https://adsterra.com/privacy-policy/ and cookies policy at https://adsterra.com/cookies/. Browser settings may limit some advertising cookies, but they may not stop all data collection by advertising networks.
6. Page-layout testing
From time to time we may test small changes to how pages are laid out, for example the order of sections on a video page, to find out which version helps visitors find videos more easily. This section describes how such a test works whenever one is running.
- To run a test, the first time an eligible visitor visits a video page we place them at random in one of two groups (“control” or “treatment”) and store the group name in a first-party cookie called ir_exp1. Only eligible visitors receive this cookie: those outside the regions listed below whose country can be determined.
- The cookie lasts up to 90 days and is renewed each time you visit a video page; some browsers shorten how long it is kept. It contains only the word “control” or “treatment”. It contains no name, email address, IP address or account information and is not used for advertising.
- While a test is running, we record the group name with our Google Analytics usage events for the test: that you viewed a video page, which recommended videos were shown and clicked, and whether a video played for about 10 seconds. This lets us compare the two groups in aggregate.
- We do not set this cookie, or record the group, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. To decide this we ask our content delivery provider (Cloudflare) which country your connection appears to come from; if the country cannot be determined, we do not set the cookie. Visitors in those regions see the standard page layout.
- If the cookie expires or is deleted (for example, you delete it in your browser settings, or your browser removes it sooner than 90 days), or if you use a different browser or device, you may be placed in a group again on a later visit while a test is running, possibly in the other group.
7. Service providers and embedded services
- Cloudflare provides content delivery, caching, security and performance services, including bot challenges and its Turnstile check on forms, and may process your IP address and request details. Cloudflare also provides web analytics through a small script on our pages.
- Google Fonts: our pages load fonts from Google’s servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), which sends your IP address and browser details to Google.
- Gravatar: our comment section shows commenters’ profile images, which your browser loads from Gravatar (secure.gravatar.com). This involves sending Gravatar your IP address and a one-way hash of the commenter’s email address.
- Fluid Player (video player software) is loaded from its content delivery network.
- Hosting: our hosting provider processes server logs and site data for us.
8. Sharing of information
We share information with service providers that help us run the Site (such as hosting, security, analytics and advertising providers), under their own terms and policies, and we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights. Advertising networks that show ads on the Site collect information about your visit directly through their cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 5; we do not control how they use it. Depending on where you live, local law may treat this as “sharing” or “sale” of personal information for advertising.
9. Your choices and rights
Choices. Browser settings let you block or delete cookies and browser storage (Section 3). Google’s browser add-on lets you opt out of Google Analytics (Section 4). These tools may not cover all data collection or all of the rights you may have under privacy laws.
Rights. Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights regarding your personal information, such as rights to access, correct, delete or restrict its use, or to object to certain uses. To make a request, email us at [email protected] (see Section 14). We will review each request.
Browser signals. The Site does not currently change its behavior in response to “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser. Third-party services used on the Site may handle such signals differently.
10. Adult content and age
Parts of the Site contain adult content intended for visitors aged 18 or older, and we ask visitors to confirm their age before viewing those sections. We store only the confirmation (Section 3), not identity documents. The Site is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at [email protected].
11. Third-party links and user content
The Site contains links to third-party websites, including social platforms (for example share links). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Comments you post may be publicly visible; do not post sensitive personal information.
12. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was most recently revised.
14. Video Submissions
When you submit a video through ImperialRaw.com’s Submit Video form, we collect your name, email address, video URL, selected category, description, and confirmation that you have the right to share the video.
This information is used to review submissions, contact submitters when necessary, and provide attribution for videos selected for publication. Our Submit Video form accepts video links rather than video-file uploads.
Submissions are reviewed by the ImperialRaw editorial team. Submission notifications are sent to [email protected].
We use Cloudflare Turnstile and temporary rate limiting to help prevent spam and abuse. The rate limit uses a hashed identifier based on connection and browser information, which expires after approximately 15 minutes. We do not store your IP address as part of the submission record.
How Long We Keep Video Submissions
- Pending submissions: Retained until reviewed.
- Spam submissions: Deleted after 30 days.
- Duplicate submissions: Deleted after 90 days unless the original submission is approved, in which case the duplicate may be retained.
- Rejected submissions: After 90 days, identifying details, including name, email address, description, and video URL, are removed. Limited information, including the video’s website, category, and link fingerprints, is retained to detect repeat submissions.
- Approved submissions: Email addresses are removed after 365 days. Names, video links, and descriptions may be retained for editorial attribution.
Retention periods are measured from the original submission date. Automated cleanup normally runs daily, subject to the website’s scheduled-task operation.
Notification emails and routine server backups are maintained separately from the submission database and may remain until their applicable retention periods expire.
To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your video submission information, contact [email protected].
